Revealing Light into God’s Purposes

Life will bring us to desire to discover God’s purposes. How so? Times of adversity and conflict bring many questions. They often cause us to lose hope. God, however, challenges us to allow strange and difficult situations to draw us more closely to Him to intensify our seeking His face to discover His intents and purposes.

Truly, God desires to pour out greater light and give us deeper insights into things that have been hidden from us. He seeks to change the way we view and respond to things.

RELEVANCE

I love how the apostle Paul came to understand how God seeks to relate with us to reveal greater measures of who He created us to be; and things He created us to do. I believe this was a primary thrust of his message etched in Romans 8:18-20. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”

God pours out light to reveal greater measures of what has been concealed and held back. So, as we earnestly ask, seek and knock upon the gates of heaven, the Holy Spirit brings new light upon subjects to illuminate areas where darkness has concealed, constrained or obscured truth. God’s intent is to bring various kinds of release through greater measures of grace and truth.

I love how the prophet Isaiah revealed, “In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness” (Isaiah 29:18). What day was he speaking about? We could debate this, but how about the day your eyes are opened to new insights into God’s book of life? What things have up to that point been obscured—vague, unclear or ambiguous?

The Lord, however, works to generate a sense of anticipation of His plans and purposes to strengthen faith and bring hope. God works for the long haul. He is a God of surprises—with good intents for our benefit and His glory. Job’s story encompassed numerous chapters of trials and rhetoric before he could experience “the end intended by the Lord” (James 5:11).

During such times, however, we must seek His wisdom. Presumption—a counterfeit force operating in the crevices of the self-will tugging at the imaginations of the flesh—likewise tends to stir a false sense of security or contentment. Pursue God’s truth and wisdom. Discover God’s purposes. Let truth rise to the surface!

REFLECT AND RELATE

As you seek God, ask Him to unveil deeper things of what He has planted in you and created in your inner being. Allow His light to burn away things that have obscured your vision and understanding so He can reveal and do new things. He truly desires to bring forward new dimensions of the new life of His Spirit.
