How Being at Peace on the Inside Brings Stability

God is a God of purpose and intentionality. Everything He does is done deliberately. There’s no randomness with God. Recklessness, on the other hand, is an expression of a mind which exhibits little thought of purpose or consequence. We all sometimes do things with little thought, like reflex actions. We also give little thought to things of little concern to us. When our behavior or words consistently reflect recklessness, however, there is a bigger problem. Unless it is dealt with, we will one day crash and burn.

RELEVANCE

The Bible tells a story of the Prodigal Son. He left home and carried on with much recklessness. He lost all he had, and wound up with the pigs. Somebody was watching over him, however. The Bible says he came to his senses and realized he would be better off at home, even as a slave in his father’s house. So he turned from his ways and headed back home.

How glad the father was to see from a distance his son returning. He had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. His father said, “Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry” (Luke 15:20-24).

We truly have a heavenly Father watching over us, waiting for us to come to our senses and turn back to him. When we do, He showers us with grace and gifts of His love.

REFLECT AND RELATE

Do you do things not knowing why? Sit down on the inside. Ask the LORD to be LORD of and over your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and give you peace. Ask why you enjoy doing things you know you shouldn’t do. It may take some time before God answers. He wants to do a deep work in your life. Find some quality fellowship with other believers who know the power of God. Ask them to pray with you.
