Whatever we do, God would have us do from passionate hearts. We serve an active living God who takes pleasure in the lives of His creation. In our asking, receiving, seeking and celebrating we should maintain stout hearts. Contrary to some opinions, God is not an uninvolved, uncaring, indifferent, hands-off middle-of-the-road God. He is a God of purpose and passion, and expects the same from us.
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (Luke 11:9-11).
RELEVANCE
When asked what the greatest commandment was Jesus quoted the two laws that sum up the Ten Commandments:
‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’ (Matthew 22:37-39).
Both express active, or activated passion: loving God and loving others. In Revelation, we catch a glimpse of how the LORD views His people.
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth” (Revelation 3:15-17).
