What to Expect of God’s Promises

Throughout the Bible God weaves stories that reveal His nature and ways so we may learn of Him and relate with Him. Jesus came to fulfill many promises of Messiah coming to reveal the Father and release the Holy Spirit so that we may more fully partake of God’s nature and be certain of His promises.

RELEVANCE

God revealed to David that He has secrets to reveal to us concerning His covenant with us. The prophet, Isaiah, revealed further how God performs His word.

“The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant” (Psalm 25:14).

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
(Isaiah 55:11)

Jesus revealed several key promises of God. They basically point to a dynamic relationship with God and new way of life in Christ through the enabling grace of the Holy Spirit. What God requires is trusting faith to realize His promises—in earth as it is in heaven.

“Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:13-14).

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

REFLECT AND RELATE

Take God’s word to Him. Ask Him in reverence and humility with tenacity to reveal his purposes and promises. Engage with Him. As you do, He will reveal more and more as He leads you in the paths of righteousness.
