One way God has called us to express love and worship towards Him is by serving others. He, therefore, often places us in positions to discern, observe and sense the environment to be salt and light.
Our human nature, however, often causes us to analyze, judge, criticize and condemn. We should, on the other hand, be sensitive to the dynamics of what is really going on in our midst, and seek God as to how we can be instruments of Godly influence and catalysts for positive change.
As representatives of the LORD, our first calling and response is to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, intercede for God’s intervention and be instruments of salt and light through Christlike behavior. Truly, our discernment and response will be a reflection of our relationship with God.
RELEVANCE
How we present God affects how people perceive God. Those who see God and/or Christ as a judge or master who executes wrath and judgment have seen God presented in such a way. Those who see God and/or Christ as a Father or friend who has compassion, loves and seeks to heal have seen such examples. As ambassadors and representatives of the LORD, we have the opportunity to represent and be ministers of God’s character. That should put the fear of God into any person of faith.
REFLECT AND RELATE
We are, in reality, looking at the issue of truly being born again. To what degree has your nature been born of God’s Spirit? How has your character been more aligned and conformed to Christ? What do you present to the world; your neighbors, friends and family, even strangers?
