God is a God of equity; what is just and fair. Integrity is His standard of measure. His throne is founded on it. He judges and administers justice based on truth. He knows all truth. He offers grace and mercy, but cannot compromise truth. That’s why He looks for us to search our heart and conscience and come to the realization of truth so He can offer mercy. It’s always available. His Kingdom values and grace are founded on it.
“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face” (Psalm 89:14).
“He will bring forth justice for truth” (Isaiah 42:3).
RELEVANCE
Some look for social justice. Others seek economic justice. There are those who try to work political justice. In God’s eyes, all fall under Kingdom Justice—since His Kingdom authority rules heaven and earth.
The heart of God yearns for mercy. It is the seat of His throne. That’s why the High Priest was directed in the Old Testament to come before the Ark of the Covenant and sprinkle the blood of the sacrifice on the Mercy Seat; so God would reverse judgment to mercy, establishing peace. In place He sent His Son as the final sacrifice for sin. As we repent and call on the name of the LORD we appropriate His sacrifice and enjoy His peace.
God, therefore, looks for us to seek truth and call for justice—His justice—so we can experience real peace; His peace. It grieves Him when justice stalls. Isaiah related to this.
“The way of peace they have not known,
And there is no justice in their ways;
They have made themselves crooked paths;
Whoever takes that way shall not know peace.”
(Isaiah 59:8)
REFLECT AND RELATE
As you seek God’s justice, call for truth. He will bring forth justice in truth; and have mercy. What issue relating to justice is top of mind?
