We set priorities on what is important to us. The most critical things, therefore, we mark as high priority. Our priorities reveal something of high importance to God: our values. What we need to assess is how much our values are congruent with God’s.
RELEVANCE
We typically set priorities based on our goals. The key question is; what is the framework of our goals? If our goals are financially based, all we do is prioritized around making and maximizing money. If our goals are politically based, what we do is prioritized around our own agenda. Behind every goal is a purpose we need to reconcile with God. Jesus revealed that Kingdom values should underpin our priorities.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33-34).
“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face” (Psalm 89:14).
