A Sports show on television used to talk about the “thrill of victory and agony of defeat.” It goes for all life’s situations. Greater than being a thrill, however, God’s victories bring sweetness to the soul. As much as despair pierces our heart and torments our soul, God’s victories bring an unmatched degree of sweetness and joy.
RELEVANCE
Part of life is suffering some form of pain. The years not being able to have children were especially difficult. When I learned we had become pregnant all I could do was kneel, weep with joy and thank God. He did a miracle; a sweet miracle. It was during this long trial that the LORD brought me unto Him and taught me the value of prayer and devotion. He truly turns weakness into strength.
“I will love You, O LORD, my strength.
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies…
…For You will light my lamp;
The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
For by You I can run against a troop,
By my God I can leap over a wall.
As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the LORD is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.”
(Psalm 18:1-30)
