God wants us to trust Him for life today. He also promises eternal life in His presence to those placing trusting faith in Him.
RELEVANCE
The sons of Korah were Levites who were faithful to David. They had a revelation of the need for sinful life to be redeemed for eternity. They saw men of great wealth and understood their wealth could not redeem their life for eternity. They knew the sacrifices of animals could not redeem life; but only God Himself could redeem life for eternity. For that reason, they placed their life in God’s trust; for their days on earth and for eternity.
“Why should I fear in the days of evil,
When the iniquity at my heels surrounds me?
Those who trust in their wealth
And boast in the multitude of their riches,
None of them can by any means redeem his brother,
Nor give to God a ransom for him —
For the redemption of their souls is costly,
And it shall cease forever —
That he should continue to live eternally,
And not see the Pit…
… But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave,
For He shall receive me.”
(Psalm 49:5-15)
REFLECT AND RELATE
The LORD taught us to pray that His will be done in earth as it is in heaven. His will is for us to place total trust in Him; on earth and for eternity. How does being confident in the reality of heaven shape your perspective?
