Seeing the Richness of God’s Blessings Through the Eyes of Childlike Faith

What are examples of childlike faith? Consider how Genesis makes it clear that God wants to be first known as the Creator. This is pointed out immediately in the very first Scripture verse. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” See the view from the throne room of heaven! Sense His awesome creative power and authority. He cannot be compared in the slightest way to any god. He is the one and only Creator!

As I read Scripture, I view it from the perspective of how God has raised me. I was raised in simple surroundings in the heartland of America. I attended a one-room elementary schoolhouse and grew up around animals and close to nature. Church was an important aspect in my youth. We didn’t move much, and I grew up around people that had a biblical view of life and creation.

Every Sunday I was in church and took part in the choir and youth programs. While I was growing up there were constant reminders of the works of God’s hand. As a little child, I can remember going outside at night and looking up at the stars and being amazed. Growing up in the country, I was able to see the stars in the absence of streetlights. I can remember lying in bed looking out my window at night and seeing just a part of the sky filled with all those beautiful stars.

The scripture, 1 Corinthians 15:41 reads, “The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor.” I can remember receiving my first telescope one Easter when I was very young. I would use it to look into the evening sky and gaze at the stars and view the craters on the moon. Even now, after 40+ years, I enjoy looking into the sky and seeing the stars.

Now I look at these stars as David did. Psalm 17:7 says, “Show the wonder of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.” Now more than ever I enjoy looking at the wonder of His great love. I really enjoy going to http://hubblesite.org and looking at the magnificent pictures that are displayed.

The pictures show the beauty of God’s hand in the creation of the universe. God’s creation is unfolding before our very eyes and yet, without the proper tools or perspective, we will miss the most beautiful and glorious aspects of the work of his hands.

When I was about five years old, I was given a magnifying glass. It was one that you would swivel out from a brown plastic covering. It wasn’t very big, about an inch and a half in diameter. I remember looking at tree bark and at leaves of all types of plants and grass. I was amazed at how they were so perfectly put together.

Later in school, I would use a microscope and get an even closer view of the works of God’s hand. My science teachers would instruct me about the physical universe we lived in. I don’t think they considered themselves as being an instrument of God’s hand in teaching me about His Creations, but it turned out that way.

They instructed me in how God’s creation was organized and was constructed. They used man-made instruments to show me a part of creation that I could not normally see. I was able to see cells and microscopic animals; the things from the work of God hands, that I could not normally see.

Looking at God as the Creator should humble us. It certainly humbled Job. Oh, I pray that God will allow you to see just a glimpse of His awesome beauty; His glory.

“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone – while the morning stars sang together and all the angles shouted for joy?”
(Job 38:4 – 7)

“Can you bind the beautiful Pleiades? Can you loose the cords of Orion? Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons or lead out the Bear with its cubs? Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set up God’s dominion over the earth?”
(Job 38:31-33)

Every day I am looking at the handiwork of God. It’s everywhere from the grass I water to the trees I trim. I look at the hills I live around to the magnificent sky I live under. Every day I am learning to appreciate the work of His hand in everything. He is the Creator God.

I encourage you to read the following scriptures and refresh your view of how the Bible speaks to our hearts about seeing from the perspective of childlike faith. (Matthew 18:3-4; 19:13 – 15; Mark 10:13-16; Luke 18:15-17; 1 Peter 2:2)

I pray that God will give you the perspective of a child, that you see Him through the simple eyes of childlike faith.
