The LORD made it clear; responsibility is about being a wise and faithful steward who can be trusted with little to be entrusted with much. In reality, God wants us to work in partnership: placing trust in Him and responding to His faithfulness. He is our true sufficiency.
“And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God” (2 Corinthians 3:4-5).
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).
RELEVANCE
When we trust God to work in, through and amongst us, we exhibit true faith. Being a steward is about walking in God’s trust; being trustworthy because we can trust Him to be faithful to us!
He provides great measures of grace as long as we do our part, working “in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord…” (Ephesians 6:5-8).
“A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them. If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward” (Matthew 24:45-47 NLT).
‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ (Matthew 25:21-22).
One of the greatest measures of a person’s character from God’s standpoint is integrity. He entrusts those He sees walking in integrity with greater measures of responsibility and authority.
REFLECT AND RELATE
While the world measures responsibility largely in terms of quantity, God looks for quality. As you do well producing fruit from a quantity standpoint, ask God about the kind of good fruit he looks for from you from a quality standpoint.
