When Paul saw the light of Messiah on the way to Damascus, it penetrated his being, refocused his mind and began to transform his life! He had deep knowledge of God before seeing the light, but the Holy Spirit changed his perspective—his framework in relating with God. He came to a deeper understanding of how “the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17-18).
RELEVANCE
The more we continue to engage with God, the more the Holy Spirit reveals fresh insights about God’s nature and helps us identify with the heart and mind of God. The Holy Spirit nurtures us in Christ and brings us through His marvelous process of transformation, renewal and regeneration. He changes our outlook on life and gives us a new world view. Our values change. The more we advance along the process, the more we shift gears in life as we identify with new virtues, perspectives, attitudes, character traits, and behaviors to bring us into alignment with the nature of God so we can experience the life of God.
The process takes time. The Holy Spirit is our source of enablement. As God works in our life, there are things He needs to remove; and things He needs to re-create, add and nurture in order to transform us for our good and His glory. The more we yield and sooner we agree with the things God brings to light, the smoother the growth process goes.
REFLECT AND RELATE
Are you having any doubts about what God may be showing you, or what may be causing you to think differently about things you have held firm on in the past? Go to God’s Word. You may seek some commentaries for confirmation. Ask God for confirmation. Don’t be afraid to challenge tradition—which is often of man. Ask the Holy Spirit to provide illumination.
