We hear a lot on prosperity. Some over-emphasize it; others de-emphasize it. In a nutshell, God does want his people to be blessed and prosper. Prosperity however, is a relative term. People define it differently. We have many different gauges. Typically people base it on some degree of economic level or social class, set of aspirations or perceived range. What might God’s perspective be?
From God’s perspective prosperity first and foremost is life in relationship with Him; in wholeness, in His goodness and favor. “Let the LORD be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant” (Psalm 35:27).
RELEVANCE
Since God is relational in nature, He defines one in relationship with Him as one living in the fear of the LORD: having reverence for Him; seeing His magnificence, viewing Him in awe.
“Who is the man that fears the LORD?
Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.
He himself shall dwell in prosperity,
And his descendants shall inherit the earth.”
(Psalm 25:12-13)
