Identifying with God: the Son’s Faithfulness

Jesus lived to please and honor the Father. He knew He was sent on a mission and was determined to be found faithful to the Father and His calling. He knew His role on earth was to be “High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him” (Hebrews 3:1-2). In identifying with His faithfulness, we can grow in His likeness, and likewise be found faithful and worthy of His blessings.

RELEVANCE

When I was just a boy somebody said I would do well if I grew up to be half the man my father was. My father was a good man. I learned a lot from him. But my heavenly Father lives in a whole different dimension. I’ve learned my best hope is to be found faithful as His Son was faithful. See where His focus was. See what inspired and motivated Him.

“Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49).

“When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things” (John 8:28-29).

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit” (John 15:1-2).
