God loves to teach and guide us, and lead us in the way of His grace and truth. He promises to do so. He has one basic requirement: humility. It marks our path.
“The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way. All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth, to such as keep His covenant and His testimonies” (Psalm 25:9-10).
RELEVANCE
God loves us too much to allow us to take credit for our wisdom or successes; at least not for long. I’ve learned this the hard way. We all do. So did the apostle, Paul.
“If I wanted to boast, I would be no fool in doing so, because I would be telling the truth. But I won’t do it, because I don’t want anyone to give me credit beyond what they can see in my life or hear in my message, even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud” (2 Corinthians 12:6-7NLT).
REFLECT AND RELATE
The Holy Spirit tugs on our heart and conscience to keep us watchful of pride. Allow His grace to work. It will leave you with His peace and prepare you for God’s promotion.
