How to Participate in New Things God is Doing

God is always doing new things. Our challenge is to discern what God is doing and how He would have us tap into the new things He may be up to. Truly, creation is the beginning of God’s ways. He initiates and creates as His first order of business. How can we tap into His creative capacity?

Truly we have the capacity to tap into God’s creative capacity through the grace of the Holy Spirit. As we do, we have the opportunity to participate in God’s work and find our place in His story. This was God’s promise expressed through the prophet Jeremiah. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11-12).

RELEVANCE

God revealed something special to Isaiah. You might say He posed before him a great challenge. “Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them” (Isaiah 42:9).

Wow—to think the God of the universe, Creator of life, desires to include us in His plans! David also understood the reality of this. He reflected on it in Psalm 25:14. “The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant.”

God’s word challenges us to seek Him to come to the knowledge of the plans and purposes He holds for us. If we listen intently to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying, we have opportunity to come to the understanding of how He would have us participate and proceed forward.

REFLECT AND RELATE

Ask God to help you see His perspective of the path He has had you on. Ask for wisdom to discern the present and seek His guidance for the future. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s truth and point you towards God’s purposes. Also ask the Holy Spirit to shed light on how your grace gifts may enable you to participate in God’s plans.
