God is a God of the ways, means and ends. Sometimes He brings forth the means to provide, sometimes He reveals new ways, yet other times He simply surprises us with the ends. The point is, He will provide in the fashion He chooses. He simply looks for us to trust Him; be faithful where He places us and with what He gives us to do.
RELEVANCE
God restores and redeems in ways beyond our imagination. He has several times provided in ways I didn’t expect. Sometimes the answer was in the mailbox, other times through a phone call, yet also through situations, circumstances, open doors and most of all—gracious people.
The Bible tells a story of a woman who was told by the prophet, Elisha, to find a place to live during the forthcoming seven years of famine. She does; then after seven years returns and asks the king to return her land. He does; and more—all the proceeds earned from the land during her absence.
“So the king appointed a certain officer for her, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the proceeds of the field from the day that she left the land until now” (2 Kings 8:6).
REFLECT AND RELATE
One way God works is through our own giving or sacrifice of our time. Ask God how you may be able to bless others. In your faithfulness to Him, He will work through things in ways you can’t see right now.
