Finding Hope on the Go

There are times we feel hard pressed to accomplish a task that seems impossible or endure difficult situations. We know failure is not an option. Yet success seems beyond us. So despair creeps in. The more that people around us threaten us, intimidate us, even blame us, the more we feel helpless and hopeless. That’s when God typically shows up on the scene in unexpected ways.

RELEVANCE

Paul was given the task by the religious leaders of the day to find and stop the one calling himself, Messiah, Son of God. He was on the assignment of a lifetime. On the way, he was struck by a power so great in blinded him. He was told he would soon be given instructions. What he finally heard turned out to be his real assignment. It would keep him busy for the rest of his life!

As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?”

“Who are you, lord?” Saul asked.

And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone’s voice but saw no one! Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus. He remained there blind for three days and did not eat or drink…

…So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 9:3-9; 17).

REFLECT AND RELATE

If your present assignment or situation has gotten you down and left you in despair, ask God for insight and what might be around the corner.

If you feel blind and can’t see any solution in sight, ask God to open your eyes and give you eyes to see the LORD. He has your answer. He may speak and confirm through wise counsel, His Word or the Holy Spirit. Regardless, the Holy Spirit will witness to your heart God’s truth and bring peace.
