God brings us through many paths in life. We don’t often see the big picture or easily understand His purposes, but in our faithfulness God reveals His faithfulness—and His greater purposes. Then the bigger picture becomes so much more meaningful and relevant!
RELEVANCE
I once went through a Dale Carnegie Training course. The course encompassed a series of twelve key lessons. Why the instructor didn’t start at the beginning amazed the whole class. We were all confused. We didn’t “get it.” The instructor sensed our frustration and promised we would “get it” once we saw how all the pieces fir together. Sure enough, he was right! We didn’t understand the method, but once we saw the bigger picture and how each part fit the whole, it made total sense!
God uses many teachers and methods we don’t understand. His Book is filled with material we may not see much relevance in. The truth is, the more we read it, experience life and apply its principles, the more ALL its content and lessons becomes invaluable—more than we might think!
“But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor” (Galatians 3:23-25).
God gives us grace to see from a fresh perspective. Ask God to help you see the big picture. Ask the Holy Spirit to provide illumination and give you strengthening vision.
REFLECT AND RELATE
Think back on some learning paths you encountered. How do you compare the lessons you learned to what you knew before, during the course, and since you completed the course?
