You were created by God and endowed with unique gifts intended for God’s purposes. You were given spiritual gifts as well as different talents to be used not only for vocational purposes but to serve God and His people in a variety of capacities. You have also been led through specific life experiences to share testimonies of what God has done in and through you to benefit others. As a child of God, you have basically been blessed to be a blessing to others.
RELEVANCE
Paul specifically taught that believers have been delivered from the old life of bondage “that we should bear fruit to God.” He reasoned, “For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter” (Romans 7:4-6).
The writer of Hebrews shed more light on the subject. He set the tone for service. He exhorted believers to adopt a Kingdom mindset. He reminded us that we serve the Kingdom of God.
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:28-29).
He, therefore, added: “Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.”
REFLECT AND RELATE
Consider your gifts and talents, and life experiences God has brought you through. See how God has invested in you. Ask Him how you can give back and be a blessing to others.
