Enjoying Rich and Rewarding Fellowship with the Holy Spirit

Many people don’t understand God intended to have real dynamic fellowship with His creation. That is possible through the Holy Spirit. David learned of the reality of the presence of God’s Spirit, the Holy Spirit. He sensed when the Holy Spirit was present; and likewise, when the Holy Spirit was grieved and seemed distant.

“Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit” (Psalm 51:11-12).

” Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?” (Psalm 139:7).

RELEVANCE

The gospel writer, John, focused on the subject of abiding with God in fellowship more than any other writer. Hear what He says about abiding with the Holy Spirit.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever — the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:15-17).

In John 15 He continues on the subject, mentioning the word, abide, 10 times. He obviously had a point to make. Here is just a snippet.

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love” (John 15:7-9).

Enjoy His abiding presence. Enjoy His peace and comfort. Enjoy His warmth and love.

REFLECT AND RELATE

Ask God about appointed times of the week and/or day to spend with Him. As you lock into His appointed time with you, He will make the time dynamic, refreshing, real and relevant; then rewarding!
