Dedication to God, prayer and patience works miracles. As a result of these key variables we experienced life where there had been death. How so? Years ago, we were faced with the inability to conceive children. After several years of prayer over the issue and receiving many promises from God, one day our doctor, a faithful man of prayer, had said he was in a Bible study, and this particular verse came up.
Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. (1 Corinthians 1:20-25)
Consequently, the doctor confessed that he was confounded. Everything he knew to do from a medical standpoint had failed to correct the medical condition. So we all continued to pray earnestly. As a result, God gave the doctor some insight into the situation. So we stopped all medical treatments and drugs. We put our total trust in the Lord. Consequently, the Holy Spirit gave us tremendous peace. God brought healing and furthermore, our daughter into the world!
RELEVANCE
Truly, God is all-knowing and all-powerful. He makes His power and wisdom accessible to us. Gaining access just takes one crucial thing: faith in the grace that comes trusting in the power of the crucified Christ and risen LORD.
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God (Romans 5:1-2).
God purposefully made trusting faith the requirement for access to His amazing grace. His grace is FREE but not CHEAP! It cost the life of His Son. We participate in His grace and blessings through our gratefulness and dedication to Him.
REFLECT AND RELATE
When we ask for wisdom, it’s wise to recall the exhibition of the ultimate wisdom and power of God: the crucified Christ and risen LORD. Meditate on the effects of the resurrection of the LORD; what it means to you. Ask God how you can apply such effects today.
