Benefiting from the Ministry of the Holy Spirit: Relational Engagement

In the LORD Jesus you have a new standing and relationship with God as joint heir with the capacity of being led by God’s Spirit, the Holy Spirit. You glorify Father God as you engage in union with Him and walk with Him by the grace of the power of His Spirit. How can you really KNOW you are being guided by the Holy Spirit?

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs — heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together” (Romans 8:14-17).

RELEVANCE

The Holy Spirit residing in believers is God’s communications agent assigned to illuminate God’s word and truths and provide instruction to lead us in His ways.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Jesus amplified this message; but also released the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to walk in the reality of the grace of His light and truth. “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12).

He gave further instructions and insight to make it perfectly clear HOW to be guided by His truths. “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you” (John 16:12-14).

Our challenge is seeking God with intentionality, integrity and diligence, maintaining a soft pliable heart to be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit is doing and speaking. It also takes coming into congruence with the Lord’s character and alignment with God’s will.

REFLECT AND RELATE

How has the Holy Spirit been illuminating God’s word and providing instruction to you?

Ask God to release greater measures of the infilling of the Holy Spirit—strengthen the voltage— that your capacity in Him increases and His Spirit flows more freely.
