David, the man after God’s own heart, had a revelation that God’s Spirit, the Holy Spirit, was God’s heart washing agent. It’s what sanctification is all about; being set apart, cleansed, prepared and empowered for God’s purposes. He knew the Holy Spirit would do a re-creation work in him that would give him a new mindset and empower him to do new things. How?
“Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me…
…Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
(Psalm 51:10-13)
RELEVANCE
All who believe in faith have the capacity of being reborn of the Spirit and re-aligned with the life giving grace of the Holy Spirit to be guided by the governing operatives of the Kingdom of God. Jesus guaranteed it.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit” (John 3:5-8).
Our part is maintaining a soft heart. That allows the Holy Spirit to refresh our inner spirit and renew our mind.
REFLECT AND RELATE
God wants you to emerge in a new capacity; the capacity of His Spirit. What forces do you think have been holding you in restraint? Ask God to reveal to you these things so you may break free and grow into the fullness of your capacity in Him.
