Being Transformed as a New Creation in Christ

The Holy Spirit always expresses the truest nature of God in the wisdom of God, and offers us understanding of the knowledge of God. The more we cultivate the nature and virtues of Messiah—“Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27)—the more we become sensitive to the presence and ministry of the Holy Spirit, and likewise mature in His nature, growing into the greater fullness of His capacity.

RELEVANCE

The Holy Spirit diffuses and manifests the wisdom and power of God to bring transformation and fashion the new nature in the new man. The more God’s nature is revealed inwardly in us, the more His image and likeness is expressed outwardly through us.

This is the essence of what Paul referred to as being “renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” It takes God’s process of renewal working in you through the Holy Spirit to grow and flow in Him. This is also what Paul meant by being transformed, and why he exhorted disciples to grow in “the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13).

REFLECT AND RELATE

In fashioning His nature in us, the Holy Spirit convicts us of aspects of our character that need to be removed to make way for measures of His virtue to be imparted. What aspects of your character might the Holy Spirit be working on now to bring about transformation?
