The LORD’s throne is frequently referred to as a “rock” because it is a place of stable and durable strength. It is unshakable and unchangeable—as is God. In the same manner, so are God’s standards of justice and judgment. Regardless of the state of things or the opinions of man God will, as Isaiah revealed, “bring forth justice in truth” (Isaiah 42:3 AMPLIFIED). Our challenge is discerning the grace of His justice which is always administered in truth.
RELEVANCE
An army knows what it is to stand front and center before its commander. It is a place where you submit in honor before authority. It is a place of reverence. Within that position instructions are given; instructions bearing on life and death. We stand before the LORD in a similar fashion. In that place, within that posture, we receive and go forth in God’s mercy/grace and truth.
“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;
Mercy and truth go before Your face.
Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound!
They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance.
In Your name they rejoice all day long,
And in Your righteousness they are exalted.
For You are the glory of their strength,
And in Your favor our horn is exalted.”
(Psalm 89:14-17)
REFLECT AND RELATE
If there is a life-changing, life-guiding revelation—this is it. I encourage you to read this Psalm slowly and meditate on it. Let your soul absorb the fullness of its truth. The forces of the world will try to move you left and right of center position before God. As you stand firm on Him—the ROCK of Salvation—you are assured the greatest grace of life in the LORD.
