Being Diligent to Maintain Integrity of Heart

We often observe and experience that which is good, bad and painful. We will, likewise, be challenged to respond and apply wisdom in everything. All our actions will ultimately lead to some form of consequences.

RELEVANCE

King David set an example of walking in integrity. The time came for David to pass the baton to his son, Solomon. In doing so he gave him the following exhortation.

“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever” (1 Chronicles 28:9-10).

Solomon started out with a loyal heart towards God. After prospering greatly, however, he allowed his heart to be stolen. He yielded to temptation. He didn’t keep loyal or faithful to God.

“For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David” (1 Kings 11:4).

In setting a poor example, Israel’s kings, for the most part, continued walking in unfaithfulness towards God. It caused their ultimate failure and demise.
