Being Accountable from the Heart

The principle of sowing and reaping means more to God than the mere sowing and reaping of material things or actions. God looks at the heart. He rewards us according to the motivations of our heart. He is faithful, and rewards those who act in faithfulness with integrity of heart.

RELEVANCE

In business executives often choose board members for political reasons. I know a man who founded a computer software company. When he took the company public, he appointed some new board members. I asked him about how he felt about having to answer to those people. He shared the benefits and values of being accountable, and how grateful he was for their participation. God richly blessed him and honored his right motivations.

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise” (Proverbs 12:15).

“Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free” (Ephesians 6:5-8).

REFLECT AND RELATE
