Most people find that living on the edge is not fun. Some though, thrive on it. In today’s world many have no choice. Anxiety tries to grip the soul wavering in doubt and disbelief of God’s oversight or ability to intervene. Yet the heart of one who knows God and appreciates His faithfulness, regardless of the situation, will be comforted, preserved and protected. David certainly experienced this.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).
RELEVANCE
I will never forget the time being unemployed and two months behind on the mortgage, and nearing the third. The bank had written of their intentions. For several weeks I had been taking the issue up with God. He impressed me to go into my own business. What a joke, I thought. I reminded Him I had no money to invest or time to build a business. So I asked for money and a source of recurring business. He knew exactly what I needed! Within three days I found myself on a plane to meet with a former competitor. I returned home with an independent contractor’s contract, a check, a territory and a book of business. Glory to God!
REFLECT AND RELATE
If you need the Lord’s protection, ask Him to reveal His rod and staff—His instruments of divine authority and sovereignty; and to demonstrate that He is with you.
