Appreciating the Lord’s Presence

David more than appreciated God’s presence; he had a passion for it. He experienced God’s grace and favor; and looked forward to being in the Lord’s presence for eternity. It was the one thing he was confident in.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever” (Psalm 23:6).

RELEVANCE

In a world that offers every type of thing to bring gratification to the flesh, our senses can easily be numbed. The thing to fear most is being desensitized to the Spirit of the Lord; leanness of soul. That’s what happened to the children of Israel in the wilderness when they were ungrateful for God’s presence and provision, but lusted for more.

“They soon forgot His works;
They did not wait for His counsel,
But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,
And tested God in the desert.
And He gave them their request,
But sent leanness into their soul.”
(Psalm 106:13-15)

How much better it is to appreciate the Lord’s presence through the Holy Spirit; to taste the sweetness of the Lord!

“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints!
There is no want to those who fear Him.”
(Psalm 34:8-9)

God always has, and always will seek those who worship Him in spirit and truth. To those who will, He offers “rivers of living water” (John 7:38).
