People talk of angels watching over them. How much more grateful we can be, knowing the crucified and risen LORD is watching over us and interceding on our behalf! What does this really mean to you?
The LORD lived as a man, taking on our human nature. He dedicated His life in devotion and obedience to the Father, saving ours from spiritual death. The writer of Hebrews related how Jesus lives forever, dedicated to watching and praying on our behalf; that “because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf” (Hebrews 7:25).
RELEVANCE
Isaiah was a man devoted to prayer. He spent much time waiting on the Lord, engaging with God. He witnessed God’s faithfulness and got to experience an incredible event. He recorded his experience. He was given the opportunity to behold the throne room of heaven. The language he used related an experience that deeply touched and moved him. “I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.” How he responded gives a clear sense of how real this experience was to him. “Woe is me, for I am undone…For my eyes have seen the King.”
Isaiah saw into the very court of heaven. He saw the LORD as King. He is still on the throne! He is a very real advocate in heaven’s court, interceding for those placing trust in Him. Whether He pleads or demands, He has every right as authoritative mediator of heaven’s justice, having sacrificed His life and shed his blood for those He represents! That’s something to be grateful for.
