Appreciating God’s Victory

By nature, we are creatures who seek conquest. God made us that way. He is like that Himself! Simply read the Bible. It’s all about conflict and conquest There’s just one catch; God reserves ultimate authority over the outcome.

Why? He is LORD, El Gibbor—Mighty Power. He imparts and withdraws His mighty power at will; His will. It all depends on His purpose and cause. Our challenge is to be on the right side of His cause; and ascribe to Him glory and honor for His mighty power.

RELEVANCE

Our tendency is to want to claim victory. God wants us to be victorious. He just wants us to win His favor and strength. He shares glory with no mortal. He looks for those who will ascribe glory, honor and victory to Him.

“For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work;
I will triumph in the works of Your hands.

O LORD, how great are Your works!
Your thoughts are very deep.
A senseless man does not know,
(Psalm 92:4-6)

God has always looked for people to represent Him; people who will walk in humility, have reverence towards Him and be a testimony reflecting His glory. When we walk in such manner in Christ, we radiate in His light and diffuse His essence around us.

“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing” (2 Corinthians 2:14-15).

REFLECT AND RELATE

Reflect upon your attitude towards winning in competitions; especially things you do well. How much do you express gratefulness for God’s strength and ability? How much do you give the glory to Him?
