The world revolves around two counterfeit ideologies, both being founded on pride: a) knowledge is power; and b) money talks and money rules. The wisdom of God, however, is based on truths beyond knowledge that may live on the surface.
God’s wisdom reveals deeper truth. It applies truth. Knowledge may be wrapped in facts, but truth goes deeper than facts. That’s why true justice seeks to examine more than the facts, evidence and circumstances; but unravel the deeper truths to discern the true score. Why is this important to God? God’s authority is administered in truth; which comes in humility.
RELEVANCE
In search for power and authority, we seek knowledge but often conceal and compromise truth. God, however, knows the deeper truths. That’s why the fallout of pride eventually is destruction. God would prefer to have grace, but He reserves that for the humble. Too often I have found the thorn of pride piercing too deep for comfort! Better to try to walk in humility.
“Surely He scorns the scornful,
But gives grace to the humble.
The wise shall inherit glory,
But shame shall be the legacy of fools.”
(Proverbs 3:34-35)
“When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom. The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them”(Proverbs 11:2-3).
“Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before a fall.
Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly,
Than to divide the spoil with the proud.
He who heeds the word wisely will find good,
And whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he.”
(Proverbs 16:18-20)
REFLECT AND RELATE
As you seek knowledge and grace, likewise seek truth in humility. They go hand in hand.
