Working and Walking in God’s Light to Bear God’s Fruit

Think of how a farmer works in the field. He plows, sows seeds and fertilizes in the daylight. At night, the God who never slumbers or sleeps, works in His ways synthesizing the nutrients of the soil, water and effects of the sun’s energy into the life of the plants. At the appropriate time the farmer then picks the harvest in the daylight. What picture does this convey to you?

I see a partnership; work of cooperation. Man does his part and God does His part. Just like He works in agriculture, He brings everything that concerns us to a state of fullness and wholeness to reap His harvest for His glory. It certainly builds my faith knowing He is always at work. When I acknowledge His presence and His ability it brings peace to my soul. He truly is the author and finisher of all we do. Nothing escapes Him. Nothing gets done without Him.

RELEVANCE

We live in a world where we are constantly under the spotlight. People watch what we do and make judgments. In all things, God watches over as well. Living in His light brings comfort of soul. He is the ultimate judge. He knows our limitations. He provides grace to fill the gaps.

“Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building” (1 Corinthians 3:5-9).

REFLECT AND RELATE

Consider the work you do, whether on the job, in your family or in your church community.

How much do you consider God in the equation?

To what extent do you endeavor to do your part, knowing God has the ability to multiply the effect of your efforts?

Perhaps you take too much of a burden; or perhaps God may be looking for you to step in some areas? Seek Him for the right balance.
