Benefiting from the Ministry of the Holy Spirit: Enlightenment and Illumination

The LORD Jesus came bearing the fullness of God’s Spirit. God promised that the Holy Spirit would rest upon Him. Likewise, all who believe with trusting faith in Him bear His calling and are charged to fulfill His purposes as He enlightens us and illuminates the way. How can we meet the challenge and fulfill the charge?

His grace is accessible! His Spirit strengthens and empowers us, and lights the path to the way!

“The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.”
(Isaiah 11:2)

RELEVANCE

Our challenge and opportunity is seeking the LORD for direction and listening intently to discern His voice and instructions. Jesus revealed the Holy Spirit would provide such illumination—to serve His purposes that God be glorified.

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you” (John 16:12-15).

For this reason Paul prayed “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power…” (Ephesians 1:17-20).

REFLECT AND RELATE

What things may God be impressing you to do? Ask God for confirmation. He will confirm what is from the Holy Spirit through others, doors opening and new resources. He will also give you the grace to advance forward in faith, in His enablement.
